When I switched to 3.5 the joy was back immediately. Soundwise 3.5 is still the best I don't know why, it was much more open, smoother in general, more biting in the bass. The only thing that helps is a restart, but okay. Sometimes it's just slow or the songs are mixed wildly. ![]() I can set my bit rate as I like and it also implements it, which the other 2 don't always do reliably. Roon is just smoother in the end, to be honest.ģ.5 remains unchallenged for me,the operation is simply still clear compared to Studio.you can do less than with Studio but you don't necessarily need all that. In terms of sound, I would say it was almost the same as Roon. The operation and menu tend to freeze when I tested it.Īnd a stop button was also missing at that time - you could only pause. I found it more limited, especially with the bit rate settings. Very confusing for a beginner and not up to date.Īudirvana Studio, I found a little more confusing at first than 3.5.Įspecially in the settings, I find it confusing and you have fewer options than with 3.5. There is not even a lexicon to get to know the Roon language. I found the introduction to Roon totally crap to be honest. Soundwise it was okay but not necessarily outstanding.Ī few nuances are better in Audirvana and vice versa on Roon. If I want to add a title I have to open Tidal separately so that it is on the Tidal playlist, otherwise Roon throws it on its own Roon playlist. The only thing that bothers me about Roon is the playlist. To Roon miss one say the operation and the surface and what it contains everything is okay and the best what I have seen. The annoyance comes from the fact that “Origin” is clearly a feature-limited version of “Studio”, with all the same non-streaming bugs that “Studio” still has, and with LESS functionality than Audirvana+ 3.5 at a higher cost.Īudirvana+ 3.5 was $79 for a perpetual license, and included streaming support. So, I’m posting to make you aware of the existence of “Origin”, but also as a caution, and perhaps some annoyance. This is still not in a state where I want to pay for it … (and since I bought a second Roon subscription, the only reason to do so AT ALL is because Audirvana is Apple Silicon/M1 native, where as Roon still needs Rosetta2). ![]() I don’t trust it, at all, with DLNA/UPnP devices. ![]() The interface is still very confused, problematically low-contrast, and there are still many operational issues. A lot of bugs in “Studio” have been fixed, but by no means all. I subscribed, on a monthly plan, to Audirvana Studio to see where things are at. I wound up swearing off Audirvana Studio and buying another Roon subscription for my laptop/travel usage. But the fact that, at launch, the software wasn’t nearly ready for production did. The subscription did not, particularly, bother me. There was LOTS of consternation about the subscription nature of “Audirvana Studio” as a replacement for the perpetual license of “Audirvana+ 3.5”. I don’t like to shit on companies/products, especially ones that I’ve bought product from, but sometimes it is “necessary” (or, at least, intellectually honest to do so) …Īudirvana have released a non-subscription music-player application, for local files only ( NO STREAMING) called “Audirvana Origin” (I’m not going to provide links use Google).
